Sallie Averitt Miller, Ed.D. is the Associate Dean for Assessment and Accreditation and is a Professor of Reading Education at Columbus State University, College of Education and Health Professions (COEHP). Dr. Miller holds a Doctor of Education degree from Auburn University, Auburn, Alabama; Reading Certification in Georgia P-12, Level 7; Adult Education, Level 7. Miller’s areas of expertise include college, unit, and program assessment (model design, data analysis, use, and reporting), working with educators using evidenced-based reading research, supervising in-service and pre-service teachers in diagnostic and prescriptive reading instruction, and writing curriculum. She has an extensive clinical background teaching children, adolescents, and adults to read across grade levels and subject areas.

Dr. Miller serves at the national level as a Site Visitor for the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), Title II Coordinator, Georgia Board of Regents Preparation Report and Data Reform Coordinator, Institutional and Program Report Card Coordinator, and Coordinator for the Professional Education Data System (PEDS), the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE) and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).

Dr. Miller serves at the state level as the 2016-2017 President of the Georgia Assessment Directors' Association (received the 2018 Leadership Award), a member of the Georgia Professional Standards Commission’s (GaPSC) Program Preparation Effectiveness Measure Program Advisor Council, Georgia Site Visitor for State Accreditation, GaPSC Assessment Advisory Panel Member, Georgia Assessment Directors Association (GADA) Chair / Co-Chair Assessment and Accreditation, GaPSC Preparation Approval Annual Report (PAAR) Coordinator, and Past President of the Georgia Reading Association.

Dr. Miller serves locally as a Program Coordinator for the Graduate Reading Endorsement Program, University Data Steward for the COEHP, Chair for the School Districts’ Human Resource Directors Council, Chair for the area superintendents’ Educator Preparation Program Council, Steering Committee Lead Team Member for CAEP, Past Chair of the University Graduate Council, Director for LiveText (now Tk20), Chair for COEHP Assessment Council, Appointed member of the University Academic Standards Committee, College Leadership Council Member, and Member of the COEHP Principals’ Roundtable.
